“There is a light that never goes out”

This week we have watched, from afar, the devastating news of a terrorist attack in the heart of Manchester. The act of terror hit the heart of a city of glorious people, where community spirit and collective care is so strong.

The attack was shocking, as any news of terror and murder is, as it targeted the innocence of enjoying music together, with family and friends. The UK has seen once again, that in times of challenge, people can show their true colours.

Most of the people of Manchester have done the UK proud this week in showing theirs, with their determination to seek light and hope at such a dark time. I know this city, our honorary home, and so I appreciate that most will now be seeking to understand in how a man born in Manchester could strike it so violently.

It was hard to be away from home this week, but Manchester, know that people all over the world are thinking of you and love you.
